SISTER PAT'S PROFESSION OF VOWS

August 15, 2008

Feast of the Assumption
of Mary

VOWS
Lord, You have called me; here I am.
I, Patricia Mary, FMT, ask of God of his Holy Church
perseverance in following Christ
within this religious community all the days of my life.
In baptism I have already died to sin
and have been set aside for God's service.
I am now ready to unite myself more closely to God
by the bond of perpetual profession.
I am choosing, with the help of God,
to live a life of simplicity, love and obedience,
saying "yes" to God's will in my life
just as Christ our Lord and Mary, His mother and our mother,
said in their lives and remaining committed to that life forever.
I am resolved to love God and all living beings,
to respect all life and all God has created
by living the Gospel with all my heart, mind, body and soul
and keeping the Rule of my religious community.
I am resolved to live my vows,
not in solitude and silence,
but in the world
sharing the love of Christ
with all of creation,
always calling for justice and peace
and listening for the sound of those voices
which others choose not to hear.
May God who has called me
and has already begun the good work in me
bring it to fulfillment.
This I ask through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen
May Mary our Mother continue to be with me on this journey. Amen.

"Tonight, Sister Pat, by the vows you have taken, you have solemnly professed to dedicate your self to religious life. You did not enter religious life to be religious; rather, you entered religious life to first and foremost, always and forever to seek God and God alone. As a vowed religious, you bind and promise your life’s work to answer a call to justice, a call to love and a call to choose."

"I am"

"Are you resolved to love God and all living beings, to respect all life and all God has created by living the Gospel with all your heart, mind, body and soul and keeping the Rule of your religious community?"
"I am"
"Are you resolved to live your vows, not in solitude and silence, but in the world sharing the love of Christ with all of creation, always calling for justice and peace and listening for the sound of those voices which others choose not to hear?"
"I am"
